100 WC - 20/11

Image
This week we have a rather mysterious picture. I have watched. I have observed. For over 300 years, I have stayed loyal. The people have passed, the scenery has changed. But I have not. I have stayed in the same place, watching the same area. I have protected this place. My duties will always be needed, but soon I will depart. I am known as the Black Hood. I am the protector of The Green Circle. What I do is vital. I protect when the ‘others’ attack. The Green Circle have thoroughly prepared for this. Bloodshed is coming. . . Joining the ‘other’ side, is my only option for survival.

100 Word Challenge - 13 November

The prompt was …but where would we hide it all?… Heart hammering. Knees shaking. Hands trembling. I push my glasses back to perch on my nose. 'STEVEN, BACK TO THE GRIND NOW!' I hear a familiar booming voice ring through my ears. 'THE SNAKES ARE DEPENDING ON YOU!' Yes. A gang. Now, you wouldn't expect me, a nerdy individual to be in a gang. I don't even want to be in this darn gang. Stupid fathers and being an 'heir' to the 'throne'. 'STEVEN WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME!' Oops. Rattlesnake hands me a huge rucksack big enough to accommodate a body. Wait . . . a body? The suspense is killing me. Stupid 'no questions' rule. ‘But dad . . . . where would we hide it all?’

Founder's Day

Image
Today was Southwell's birthday! Southwell turned 106 today. I have only been at Southwell for 8 almost 9 years now, and for Southwell to be existent for 106 years is unimaginable! We got to sit on the oval which is very uncommon as the oval is a sacred place. I have been to many founders day's before, and Mr Speedy glammed it up a little bit this year, and I have to say, it was super fun! I loved the line dancing, the conga lines and the rock band. One of my close friends, Alexis, was in the 2nd rock band. It was amazing seeing the talented students from Southwell. Overall, I loved this years Founder's day! I'm coming to the realisation that this year there was a lot of lasts. This is my last founder's day, and I am very, very, very sad that my Southwell life is coming to an end.

100 Word Challenge - 30th October

Yet another 100 word challenge ;) This time the prompt was . . .  Here in the UK we are about to celebrate Bonfire Night when the skies will be full of fireworks. We have also recently enjoyed the festival of Diwali the Hindu celebration of light. So, with these events in mind the prompt this time is a series of words, all of which must be in your writing but they can be in any order. flame,  swimming,  celebrated, white, tomorrow    Swimming. In the pool, in the sea, in the river, It’s my happy place. I take one last lustful look at the white froth drifting ashore, and start jogging towards the big vicious flame surrounded by shapes dancing around it. As I approach the bonfire, I see white smoke emerging from the bright orange blaze. My eyes make the shapes to be people, and as I move closer yet, the faces. This year has come to an end, and celebration for all the good things that came to us.  A year has been celebrated, and tomorrow is another day, another year; For which

100 Word Challenge - 24 October

The promt was ....as the door slammed, I knew.... As the door slammed, I knew something was off. Me and Wade have a lot of arguments, but he never seemed to get th is vexed about it. My best friend, Wade Fergus, was known for keeping a cool head in stressful situations. I walk over to the glass panel in the door frame, and peer through the smudged glass. What better to see, peering back at me, Wade. I stood back to open the door, and I turned the doorknob, to no avail. I tried again, but still to no avail. Wade frantically said ‘Shanan!’ We both anxiously started pushing the door handle. ‘Wade, Help Me!’ I scream in trepidation. . .

My Most Treasured Item

GOIS ITS ANOTHER 100 WORD CHALLENGE! YAY! The prompt was . . . What is your most treasured item. Do not give it away. So take a WILD GUESS and try to figure out what this item is! It sits close to my heart, as the person who gave it to me does. Cold and dangling, yet it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. It's silver chain feels reassuring, as I wind my finger around it when I'm anxious. Knowing someone else too, wears a similar one makes the world seem brighter when I slip it on my neck. The white glass like pendant glimmers in the light and draws peoples attention. It's part of a pair, and I'm lucky enough to have half. It signifies a life long bond between friends.    Maddisonnn

100 Word Challenge ~ 17 October

Yet Another 100 Word Challenge!  This was the prompt ...  It had to be a recount, so it was a bit out of my comfort zone. ENJOY! Letterman’s Post Pair of Gumboots Found in Smalls Town Yesterday, 1st Of May, in Smalls Town, a pair of gumboots, with a body attached, was found in Smalls Lake. Two women (who have asked for their Identities to be kept classified) were walking down Park Avenue when they came across a horrific scene. A pair of legs, with gumboots, was sticking upright from their local lake. The women called their local police station, and further action was taken. The man has been identified to be Sam Farmer, our local butcher. You may ask, who drowned him? But the real crime - as you know is - Why was he wearing gumboots?

2nd 100 Word Challenge

Image
This is my 2nd 100 Word challenge!  The bright white light came closer. Closer. Closer. I can’t hear anything, yet right in front of me I see glass bursting. I feel a piece of jagged glass run across my cheek. It dropped to the ground, stained with red on an edge. I bring my hand to my cheek, and instantly felt a damp line. Suddenly, everything stops. The glass is frozen in mid-air, millions of multi-coloured pieces flying out of the center. I blink in awe, and all of the pieces come shattering down.  Where am I? Who am I? And yet the most important question of all…..Why am I here? The prompt was .............

100 Word Challenge

This is my 100 word challenge. The prompt was …so, what lies ahead of… Run. A blur of greens and browns passed me as I ran. Run. It was life or death, and we chose life. Run. I stopped, dead in my tracks. The puny sticks under my feet crunched under my weight. Lost in thought, I could hear a faint ‘keep running Esie,’ It got louder and louder, till I followed the instructions. Run. The light peeping in from the foliage above was limited, we had to get out of the forest before the darkness fell. So...what lies ahead of us? That’s a complicated question, the answer for which we know, and you to find out.

Consideration

Today in chapel Mr Speedy talked about consideration. What conderation means to me is caring for other people as I would like to be cared for myself.  Considerate things to do: Say good morning Open the door for someone Ask someone if they need help Putting your hand up insetead of shouting out Tell the teacher when you need to be out for opera or iternerant lessons Going out of your way to help someone Not shouting out Clean up after yourself Complimenting someone Sharing a smile Greeting people/acknowledge them Use your P's & T's (manners)

This Week In 8CH

LIFE IS BUSY! There is a lot to balance at the moment. I have opera most of the time, and if I'm not doing opera, I have WADS of homework to finish. We had a speaker come in that was in a wheelchair. He spoke about his experience and how he has gotten through life with a disability. My highlight of the week was buddy class. 8CH gets together with 3PM every Friday after math. My buddy is Oscar. He is the most adorable person ever! He gives lots of hugs but he's a bit spastic sometimes. I was in and out of class this whole week with opera, so I have some catching up to do. But that's what the weekends are for! Babette is an interesting character to play because she flirts with EVERYONE. Im music we are doing songwriting and we are in a band. My band consists of: Max F, Maddison, Nathan, Dhiren and I. We have a song called 'notes'. It's coming along really well. I'm very tired most of the time as I have a lot of homework and other commitments. So if I'm gro

Sustainability

Image
Did you know that 66 million kids go to school with no food?  Sustainability is a thing we all need to practice. It starts with our community. We need to start being more effective. I personally have put this subject off for long time. I thought that I'll be fine. My children will be fine....but I always stopped there. What about my grand kids, or my great grand kids??? I stopped there because I knew that somehow...they would be affected. Now I can't put it off. I mean thinking if YOU could be there, in a polluted earth...with no sunlight and clear air. We use energy everyday...whether we know it or not. Like right now as I am typing this I am using energy. When I use my phone I use energy. I use energy when I read a book under a lamp late at night. Whether you like it or not, using energy has become a part of our daily living and it will take more than just a little action to start making it more eco-freindly. My family has had solar panels for the past year. We made the dec
